Over the last week, I have been locked down in study mode, completing my Company Directors training with the Australian Institute of Company Directors (http://www.companydirectors.com.au/). This training is something that I had been putting off for a long time, but a generous grant from the South Australian Food & Beverage Industry Fund (http://www.foodandbeveragefundsa.com.au/cgi-bin/index.cgi) has enabled me to fund the course, and devote the time to study. In fact, I took my weighty reading folders with me to Bali and studied around the pool every day! I encourage anyone who lives in SA, is in the food and beverage industry and is interested in furthering their education to apply for the grant. Plenty of cheesemakers, bakers, chocolatiers, brewers and many others have benefited. Applications are open now- http://www.foodandbeveragefundsa.com.au/cgi-bin/page.cgi?id=105#TIMELINE.
My company directors course has been very interesting, with most of my class mates being CEO’s, CFO’s, Lawyers, Accountants and Directors of large companies. While Oliver’s Taranga is miniscule in relation, there is still plenty to learn! Had the opportunity to listen to a very inspirational South Australian, Jane Jeffreys (http://www.jjconsulting.net.au/docs/IBWoman.pdf). Jane is the only woman on the Port Power board, and is also Chair of a number of bodies, including the Adelaide Convention Centre and the SA Tourism Commission. Super smart chick, and glad to have her contributing to SA.
Wish me luck with my exam!
