Countdown: Blog 144: Corrina’s top picks for this year’s McLaren Vale Sea and Vines

Don’t know what you will be doing on the Queens Birthday Long Weekend (Sunday 12th and Monday 13th June), but we will be super-busy with the annual McLaren Vale Sea & Vines Festival!

If you haven’t heard of it, this legendary food and wine festival has been around for nineteen years now and it brings together McLaren Vale’s wineries with our local chefs and food producers, with a bit of music thrown in as well. The event has really grown over the last few years to include loads of different experiences, from the big and bustly, to the small and intimate. There truly is something for everyone’s palate.

I have looked through the myriad options available this year and pulled a few out that I think will be brilliant. Please note that as of today a lot of places are booked out so you will need to be quick if you have plans to head down and soak up the fun.

Cheong Liew is heading to Yangarra ( Cheong Liew, need I ay more?

I reckon this is not to be missed. Chapel Hill Winery, the home of Bushing King Michael Fragos, has some great food by Rebecca Stubbs. Having just enjoyed a meal at the Gourmet Retreat from Rebecca’s hand, I can highly recommend. See for more information.

The dinners at d’Arenberg ( Yum! Fino with Wirra Wirra ( will be the ultimate in indulgence, makes me wish I wasn’t working!

I think that the brekkie at Maxwell’s sounds pretty amazing also. The Bocce Club is always entertaining- and you get a mix of different wineries there very social, if you like a chat!

New this year is the Leconfield & friends event- this should be MASSIVE. Loads of wineries, including some of my favourite small producers ( and Vinteloper (

Of course, you can visit us at Oliver’s Taranga as well! We are open ONE DAY ONLY on the Sunday the 12th. We have great food by The Barn and the magnificent Marion Grasby of Masterchef fame doing cooking demonstrations throughout the day. Add to that some fab music by Swap Sides, and not to mention our lovely hospitality and wines and well, it should be a cracker of a day!
