Shimmer is a biennial celebration of the many professionally established, internationally acclaimed, emerging and aspirational photographers in Australia.
Shimmer is the only photography festival in South Australia and the City of Onkaparinga is leading the way in supporting and showcasing local talent and attracting the best artists to our community. Shimmer provides professional skill development opportunities to local artists as well as a culturally enriching experience for our whole community.
Shimmer will run from Friday 29 August to Sunday 28 September 2014.
This year we are actively supporting local artist Alice Blanch with her amazing collection of Box Brownie images:-
The photographs in this series were all captured at various locations around Australia in a 1940’s Box Brownie camera on black and white 120 film.
“Alice Blanch is an emerging Australian photographer influenced by the ephemeral nature of the sky and its relationship to the landscape below. Alice works with photographic film in old cameras, enjoying the possibility for magical and unpredictable results and is passionate about using analogue processes and techniques in new and experimental ways.”
We are displaying her magnificent pieces in Cellar Door from August to October 2014 with a special exhibition opening on Sunday September the 7th. Stay tuned for invites to come……………….
All photos can be purchased and received by the end of the exhibition.
