Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards HJ Reserve Shiraz 2013

The 11th release of a HJ Reserve Shiraz. From old McLaren Vale vines.

It’s a rich, hedonistic expression of shiraz. Rich in both fruit and oak; both sides of the coin are laid on thick. Cakey blackberry, saltbush, malt, five spice and milk chocolate. Touches of mint, citrus and musk. The flavours hit, run and keep on going. Lovers of McLaren Vale shiraz will love this wine.

Rated : 93 Points  The Wine Front, Campbell Mattinson

Big and bold, deep and dark, a wine of serious heft but good glide and slick texture to ensure the drinkers reach back to their glass as repeat offenders.  Says McLaren Vale Shiraz with aplomb, earthiness and spice. Good stuff

WBM - July/August 2017

Deepest blackberry and star anise, with a hint of fennel, leads to the big, thick, tarry gush of solid blackberry. This is serious old vine shiraz; a big, foreboding presence with extraordinary power, wrapped in a severe, steely fist that says cellaring is necessary. After a time, it may actually open up and perhaps crack a smile. A magnificent specimen, to be treated seriously. David Sly
