Premium Wines | 2000 Corrina’s Cabernet Shiraz Blend
This is the first release of the "Corrina's" Red blend. This wine is handmade on a very small scale on the Taranga property, using an open fermenter, small basket press and fine oak barrels. This wine is made to drink slightly earlier than the Oliver's Taranga Shiraz, being softer and more elegant in style.
The 2000 vintage was an extremely low cropping year, and this wine reflects the concentration of flavour expected from such low-bearing, old vines.
This wine is included in our 2014 Corrina's Extravaganza 6 pack release, here is how it is looking now.....................................
Brick in colour. Toasty spice, some leather and gravy notes. Travel lollies on the palate, lovely soft structural tannins, great length and the leathery characters follow on the palate. A 14 year old beauty, at is drinking peak. 17.5/20

Owner Don Oliver is considered to be one of the better growers of South Australia, with his grapes often being selected for part of the famed Penfold’s Grange blend. His winemaker, Corrina Rayment, has fashioned two fabulous offerings in 2000. The 2000 Corrina’s Blend (55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Shiraz and 5% Merlot aged in both French and American oak) is a sexy, opaque purple-colored effort with smoky, earthy, meaty aromas as well as copious quantities of black cherry and black currant fruit. As the wine sits in the glass, notions of sweet, melted licorice and camphor also emerge. Layered, lush and complex, this hedonistic red will drink well for 3-4 years.
