Premium Wines | 2003 Corrina’s Cabernet Shiraz Blend
This Cabernet/Shiraz blend from the warmer 2003 vintage was vinified in open fermenters together (a technique known as co-fermentation). This creates a brilliantly integrated wine, and is a signature of the "Corrina's" blend. The 2003 vintage was cold early, followed by some extreme heat in February. A strong vintage with excellent longevity.

Lots of deep forest berries and briar in this- minerally soy scented. It reminds me (curiously) of Priorat (Spain). Good weight this, and real interesting in the mouth: juicy and succulent, but with building tannin. There's some alcohol warmth, but it's a component, not a feature. Has chew and sparkle.

On a winters evening last week, I tried the Corrina's Cabernet Shiraz and, despite my best efforts at restraint, I finished the whole bottle. A supple, rich compote of berry flavours flood the mouth, while Canernet's dusty dry tannins balance the power of the Shiraz just so. I could drink this all winter. It has great cellaring potential, but I'd fail to resist temptation

A substansial wine, bringing all of the elements of the varietal mix and regional influence together; supple, ripe fruit and good oak.
