Premium Wines | 2005 Corrina’s Cabernet Shiraz Blend
2005 was a very strong vintage for McLaren Vale. A mild December and January was followed by a very dry harvest season, allowing for optimal ripening. The Corrina’s Shiraz Cabernet is made via a technique called co-fermentation. In this method the fruit is blended in the vineyard & fermented as one , rather than making a separate wines from Shiraz & Cabernet and blending afterwards. This is a very old technique, and is a favourite of our winemaker for this wine.
It's 2014 and were are releasing this wine in our Corrina Extravaganza 6 pack-here is how it looks now the 2005 looks now............
Dark cherry berry chocolate and tar lift. Big and broody, genuine spice and structure, with loads of dark chocolate and mocha. Plenty of life left still 18.5/20

- Ross Noble, Courier Mail, 2008
The blend of old-vine shiraz and cabeniet sauvignon was made by vinification together in open fermenters, an old technique that works very well in the Oliver's Taranga Vineyards Corrina's Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2005. It is a full bodied mix of richly flavored berry fruit, bringing out the juiciness of the shiraz and the complexity of the cabernet component.
- Tony Harper, Brisbane News, December 2007
It is a deliciously chocolatey wine, oozing plump, ripe fruit and a dense structure. It's perhaps a little more old school than the rest of the range in terms of its more hefty alcohol and lush fruitiness, but I guess that's exactly what's called for with such a traditional blend.
- TORBwine, 2007 SA Tour Diaries
..a quirky winemaking venture where the two varieties are picked at the same time if the vintage permits, the shiraz co-fermented over cabernet skins, resulting in a wonderfully vibrant expression of this style, strangely old school but full of superb fruit and fun drinking . ..the silky, drying tannins provide a good mouth feel and firmly back this ample-weight wine that has a diverse complexity
