Corrina’s Cabernet Shiraz Blend

Premium Wines  |  2010 Corrina’s Cabernet Shiraz Blend

Vintage Notes:

The glorious 2010 vintage was a welcome change to the heat affected previous vintages, and allowed a brilliant Corrina’s blend to come to fruition. The Corrina’s Shiraz Cabernet is made via a technique called co-fermentation-where by the fruit is blended in the vineyard and fermented as one, rather than making a separate Shiraz wine, a Cabernet wine and blending afterwards. This is a very old technique, and is a favourite of our winemaker for this wine. It does mean that the Corrina’s isn’t made every year- there was no 2009 vintage made.

The two estate-grown components were co-fermented, although we don’t know the percentage contribution of each, nor the oak regime- which barely matters given the layers of ultra-typical regional character delivered via blackberry and blackcurrant flavours wrapped by a coating of dark chocolate and licorice. Yummy stuff indeed.

    Aroma

Tarry, smoky rich Cabernet dominates the nose, with a chocolate background from the Shiraz. Intense. Spice and leather notes.

    Palate

Dark fruit characters dominate the palate. Huge weighty mid-palate gives an explosion of flavour, followed by rich fine grained tannins. Layers of spice to finish.
