Reviews

  • Robert M. Parker, Wine Advocate - Issue 135, 92/100

Don Oliver, one of the suppliers for Penfolds famous Grange, has bottled a spectacular 100% Shiraz from 45 year old vines. There are 500 cases of this 14.5% alcohol wine. A stunning fragrance of black fruits, incense, smoke, pepper and sausage soars from the glass in what is undoubtedly a wickedly exotic yet compelling bouquet. Opaque purple-colored, with full body, awesome concentration and nicely integrated French and American new wood, this large-scaled, opulent, chewy, super-concentrated wine makes one heck of a hedonistic impression. It is another impressive 1999. Anticipated maturity: now-2012
