Premium Wines | 2005 Shiraz
We are very proud of how this wine expresses our special vineyard year after year. Always an ageworthy wine- this museum release wine has already been cellared in the best conditions at our winery and specially selected for release by our winemaker at its best.
2005 was a very strong vintage for McLaren Vale, a mild December and January was followed by a very dry harvest season, allowing for optimal ripening. This is the 10th vintage of the Oliver's Taranga Shiraz and we are very proud of how this wine expresses our special vineyard year after year.
- Winewise Vol 23, No 3., Highly recommended
Decidedly ripe, but stays on the right side of the line. The palate is quite tight after a comparatively open nose. And is dense, with layers of blackberry flavour supported by good oak.
- Big Red Wine Book 2008, 95 points
Wow! This had me going from the first sip. This is rich, viscous, chocolaty and impressive, its dark fruitiness pure and big and wonderful. If you like your reds big, you have to try this- its a flamin' beauty. Its not just big thought, it's structured, controlled, complex- full of personality. Outstanding wine

...plenty of lush, dark fruit. But there's a savoury edge to the wine- a hint of black olives and rosemary- that's a little unexpected and absolutely welcome. And it's elegant despite the sweet rich character of the fruit....
- Winestate Magazine, Sept/Oct 2007
....Savoury oak bouquet with some lovely licorice and spicy characters. Tight palate- savoury to the taste, with oaky complexity and long tannins....
