HJ Reserve Shiraz

Reserve  |  2009 HJ Reserve Shiraz

Tasting Notes:

The 2009 Vintage was another one that was affected by drought an an early heat wave. This resulted in some very low cropping and only a small parcel of HJ Reserve was made.  Lower cropping vines always results in a concentration of flavour and lasting tannins, and 2009 was no exception.

From the Wine Writers:

91 points 'Slightly jammy, but a fine effort from this vintage with genuine ability to age.  It's deep, dark bouquet of violets, blackberries, blueberry confiture, dark plums and currants are lifted by fine-grained cedar/chocolate oak.  Long and deep, steeped in brambly flavours of dark plums and berries, it's underpinned by firmish, grainy tannins but finisheds with some faintly dehydrated notes of currant and raisin.'
