It’s from their ‘Small Batch’ range of wines, though this is presumably so small, that I can’t find it on their website at all! Made in the ‘Moda Amarone’ style, the style which dare not speak its name, but in this case constitutes 25% vine dried fruit (not rack), in the ‘Italian tradition’.

Good stuff this. All dried cherries, dried flowers, licorice, hazelnut chocolate and new leather with a fair bit of lift. Full bodied, sour and sweet cherry, plump silky tannin bobs up and down – firm/soft/firm/soft – then a bright sour cherry finish cleans up, and goes pretty long. A good play at this style.

    Cabernet Sauvignon

    Growing Region

    McLaren Vale

    Colour

    Deep, dark maroon

    Aroma

Aniseed spice, stewed cherries, sweet prunes and smoky background.

    Palate

Rich and filling with divine soft but structural tannins on the palate. The aniseed character continues through the wine. More savoury on the palate than the nose would suggest. Very moreish and should have loads of life in it for those who like to age their wines.
