PALATE
PALATE Pop a lamb roast in the oven quick! Plenty of chewy tannin, mint jelly, gravy, black currant, anise, cherry berry and dusty tannins to round out the palate. Chocolate and toasty, plenty of structure and aging potential for those who have the patience to wait.
WINE & VINTAGE

The 2014 vintage was a warm one, and crops were quite low indeed. These tough conditions are perfect for ripening our 1973 planted Cabernet to perfection. The concentration on the vine, has followed through into the resultant wine.

WHAT THE WRITERS HAVE TO SAY

James Halliday Wine Companion 2018

Rich McLaren Vale cabernet, it’s full-bodied, but carries its weight easily. The tannins were never going to be a problem, and the oak was well judged, leaving the great Reynell
clone free to speak in its effortlessly pure fashion.

Toni Patterson

An incredibly intense and concentrated wine, with liquorice and liqueur plum aromas. There is also some dried mulberry plus dark chocolate. Bright boysenberries on the palate and well-handled oak. The edges have begun to soften, and the mid-palate has opened though the acidity is still very bright and needs a little more time to soften
