Marjorie Oliver (nee Hunt) is our grandmother and family matriarch. This wine was inspired by her amazing ability to make us all feel so loved. She kept us fed, looked after us when sick, never forgets the hot water bottle, irons our undies, mends and knits us socks, collects flowers and feathers, and is forever writing us little notes cut out of the back of old envelopes with pinking shears. Every time we pop a bottle, we celebrate everything she is.

WINE & VINTAGE

Methode Traditionelle means that the wine is bottle fermented, so that the bubbles are all created by yeast in the bottle during a secondary fermentation. Corrina worked
with renowned SA sparkling winemaker, Kate Laurie from Deviation Road Wines.

Fiano is not a traditional sparkling variety, but it has a very high natural acidity which
is key for sparkling winemaking and is often made into sparkling wines in its traditional home of Campania, Italy. With more than 24 months on yeast lees, this wine was handmade in very small quantities and we hope you enjoy sharing with your friends as much as we did making it.

HISTORY

The Hunt for Mrs Oliver 2019 is a wonderful follow up to the 2016 and 2017 vintage releases. Our winemaker Corrina has long been enamored by Champagne, so decided to try her hand at making a traditional method sparkling from Fiano grown on the Taranga vineyard.

WHAT THE WRITERS HAVE TO SAY

2019
Ned Goodwin

β€˜This is a delicious mid-weighted fizz, creamy, generously flavoured and long. Having undergone a 2nd fermentation in bottle followed by extended time on lees, a billowing palate of cheesecloth and toasted brioche notes is flecked with Fiano's pungent mineral, apricot, quince, baked apple and talc. Good drinking.’

McLaren Vale winery Oliver's Taranga has launched a sparkling Fiano. The 2016 Hunt for Mrs Oliver Fiano Methode Traditionelle honours winemaker Corrina Wright's grandmother featuring an intricate floral label design by body artist Emma Hack. Having worked with Fiano for some time, Corrina knew the grape's high natural acidity and likeness to Chardonnay would translate well into a sparkling wine.

James Suckling

A very crisp, fruity and boldly appealing style that has a wealth of fresh pears and white melon. Some white flowers, too. Nicely done.
