The 2020 Oliver’s Taranga Shiraz Magnum, 1.5L Magnum of our estate Shiraz, beautifully presented in a custom gift canister.

Shiraz is what the Oliver’s love and it is in Shiraz that they trust. A full-bodied, rich wine; dark chocolate and mocha notes fill the nose, while the palate is all mulberries, dutch liquorice and cacao. It will reward aging, just as the same sweet patch of dirt has rewarded the Oliver family for generations.

History

Made exclusively from our Taranga vineyard, the 2020 Shiraz shows all of the delicious flavours that you have come to know and love. Made from vines aged 15 to 70 years old, our Taranga estate Shiraz always delivers.

Aroma

Bright mulberry and blackberry on the nose, dark chocolate and mocha notes. All the great things that you expect from our trusty McLaren Vale Shiraz.

Wine & Vintage

2020 was a challenging vintage in a challenging world. There was a significant lack of rain through winter and spring, and an early heat spike during grape set that resulted in loss of crop. Hence, 2020 was an extremely low tonnage vintage, all while a pandemic raged. Small crops mean great quality though, so our loss is your gain!

Palate

Lifted cherry berry, mulberry freshness, liquorice and plenty of spice. Mouth watering tannins, sweet fruited and dark chocolate to finish. Delish!

The Year That Continued

With 6 generations of family members farming the same land, we have a LOT of historic diaries and documents. Delving into the diaries of Great Gran Dulcie, we discovered that her brother actually survived the great war, but lost a fight with Spanish flu while waiting to get home from Cairo. Her diary entries track the spread of the flu in Australia and locally, and was very eye-opening to relate this to the COVID-19 pandemic we all found ourselves in.
