THE YEAR THAT
Don took Miah for driving lessons around the vineyard.

Never tasted Mencia before? May as well start now! A new variety to Australia, it’s packed with violet florals, cherry syrup, and a bright, punchy, savoury palate. Whip up some Paella and settle in for a long lunch (and lifelong love affair) with this Spanish beauty.

AROMA
Plenty of violet florals, cherry syrup and jubey blackbery concentrate.
PALATE
Like drinking flowers, the Mencia has such a delicious palate. Bright, fresh and zesty – this red has limited oak impact and is all about the fruit. Chewy berry flavours abound.
WINE & VINTAGE

WHAT THE WRITERS HAVE TO SAY

Q wine

‘There’s little of the Spanish variety Mencia around in Oz and this is a beauty. It certainly has some Barry White factor, that is, I can’t get enough! Pour large and don’t share are my tips for success.
It’s such an easy slurp. Littered with baked blueberries and fresh blue fruits, rubs of earth and fine spices. Delicate violet-like aromas lob up with time in the glass. I keep going back to the vitality which it exudes. Soft lingering spices whip up the tail to create another state of want. But in the end, cut loose - it’s hard not too.

93/100
Toni Paterson

Intensely-coloured with a deep crimson hue. Pomegranate and dark cherry aromatics with a hint of stonefruit and violet. The palate is succulent and moreish with a beautiful floral vein running throughout and faint earthy accents. It is a beautiful and intriguing wine with individual character and personality. Dark and juicy.
