TO EAT

To Eat – Mother Duck

Mother Duck café is a quaint but modern cafe, where you can feel the ethos and love as soon as you walk in. The breakfast and lunch menu is seasonal and locally sourced. Coffees, teas and wines have been carefully selected and complete this relaxed dining experience. The greatest appeal is the chefs and waiting staff that really believe in this wholesome food movement. With so many delectable dishes several visits are needed -but a duck breast egg benedict is my recommendation.

TO DRINK

The Shifty Lizard

The Shifty Lizard Taphouse is Located in the picturesque town of Willunga SA.
The co-founders, Lee and Danny have been mates going on twenty years now. Growing up in the picturesque Onkaparinga district of Adelaide, they spent their days on their push bikes and kicking the footy around the local football club.
Fast forward to the present day, brush over the ten years Lee spent in the UK working for some of Europe’s largest breweries, and the two year stint Danny spent OS traveling and developing his illustration style. And you will come crashing into the pair of them combining talents and experiences to build a fine range of ales with a unique image.
Come in and chat to these blokes while you sample all fresh beer from the tap. Then take a bunch home to share with your mates!

TO READ

Faces of the Fleurieu – Soul Publishing

The concept of Soul Publishing was born in 2013, when owner and founder Rojina Park returned home to the Fleurieu. A passion was born to see this unique and bountiful region recognised both nationally and overseas.
Soul Publishing’s first publication, Faces and Food of the Fleurieu will be available in Spring 2018. In April a crowdfunding campaign endorsed by Australian actor Erik Thomson and Master Chef participant Jesse Spiby invited the Fleurieu’s businesses, residents, and wider networks to pre-order a copy of the book. The aim of the campaign being to fund the first print run and build a sense of shared success in the wider community through the bringing to life of a book that is uniquely theirs.
Soul Publishing has assembled a small team which includes SA photographer Josie Withers, writer
Heather Millar, designers Erica Brady and Kim Jericho, two interns, and 20 recipe testers who will test every recipe in the book.
More than a cookbook and the first of its kind for the Fleurieu, this publication will showcase regional products through the stories of our farmers, fishers, producers and chefs. Each story in the 200 + page hardcover book will profile a person and their product, as well as a recipe or tip, complemented by stunning photographs
The book is planned for publication by an Australian printer from July 2018, and it will have a retail value of $65.00.

TO EXPLORE

Tingella Walking Trail

Experience Kuipto forest this winter with a hike along ‘The Tingella Trail’. This circuit is 12km of undulation through this stunning wooded area. Hikers, horseriders and mountain bikers alike can enjoy the fresh air and potent ‘pine’ aroma.
If you are lucky enough to hike during mushroom season, you can forage for your own or at least search for some fairies under the infamous red toadstools (Amanita Muscaria).
