Icon Wines | 2010 M53 Shiraz
Tasting Notes:
Vintage Notes:
2010 was a spectacular year-one of the best of the decade. After a few years of heat waves and droughts, 2010 was perfection personified, with a mild growing season, rain at all the right times and no heat shocks.
THE STORY
M53 is the Oliver Family horse & cattle brand that dates back to the 1880s. Although the horses and cattle have now moved on, the vineyards that have replaced them are recognised in the production of this single block Shiraz. Produced from a single block on the Taranga vineyard, only in years of high quality and in tiny volumes, this Shiraz is the pinnacle of our Oliver’s Taranga Shiraz.
Please note - Single bottle sales only, Please purchase M53 3 pack from the shop for special price.
Awards & Accolades:
Two hogsheads of new French Oak (Mercurey and Remond) the total make. Wow. The colour is inky deep, yet vibrant on the rim, and the expressive bouquet is swamped by the tsunami of luscious blackberry fruit that retains shape and balance against the odds, and has flourished with the aid of the oak. The screwcap make this a 50 year wine. James Halliday 96 points
