ICONS OF THE VALE
In the Icons of the Vale tasting we explore why the region of McLaren Vale was built on the back of grape varieties Shiraz and Grenache, from the very first settlers, including William Oliver in 1839. Initially prized for their ability to make fortified wine, McLaren Vale has since made these varieties its own, producing increasingly exciting and diverse versions of these “Icons of the Vale”.

TARANGA TERROIR TOUR
Explore one of Australia’s oldest family run vineyards on the Taranga Terroir Tour, glass in hand, tasting each variety next to the very vines that source them. ‘Ollie’ the Golf Buggy awaits for this exclusive vineyard tour where you will learn about the Oliver family through the generations, the heritage sites, sustainable viticulture, impeccable wines and most importantly have some serious fun!

Ascend brings together Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards in McLaren Vale, Golding Wines in the Adelaide Hills and KimBolton Wines in Langhorne Creek with the help of South Australian Helicopters for the ultimate South Australian wine and food experience.

What are your opening hours?
The Oliver’s Taranga Cellar Door is open 10am to 4pm, 7 days a week. We only close on Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Year’s Day each year, as well as our OTT Member Weekends each August.
Do you have a restaurant?
No, we do not have a restaurant. However, all of our tastings are served with warm, local bread from Andy Clappis, alongside our award-winning Extra-Virgin Olive Oil, and local almonds. You can also add to this with a choice of three different Pâtés: Little Acre Foods Duck Pâté with Beetroot Jelly; Little Acre Foods Mushroom & Thyme Butter Pâté (V); OR White Bean & Black Truffle Pâté (VEGAN/GF) from Birky’s. Gluten Free Bread or Fennel Seed Lavosh is also available on request. Or join one of our frequent Sunday lunches, like our Porchetta Party, for a real foodie treat!
Do you charge for tastings?
Yes, our tastings start from $15pp, with our Taste of Taranga, a favourite among guests at Oliver’s Taranga.
Should I book ahead?
Walk-in visitors are welcome at Oliver’s Taranga, however we do recommend our guests book ahead to make sure there is space for you. This is especially true for larger groups and during busy times like weekends and public holidays – we’d hate for you to miss out! And we ask guests to please include all children and non-drinkers in your headcount. Buses are by appointment only, so please let us know if you are arriving with a tour operator. What is your largest group size?
Our largest group size is 8 people. This guarantees we can give everyone in your group the best experience at Oliver’s Taranga.
How long is a tasting experience?
We allow 80 minutes for our tasting experiences. This gives you, and our team, the ideal amount of time to enjoy a relaxed and enjoyable experience.
Are you family friendly?
Of course! We have high chairs, lawn games, change facilities, colouring-in, soft drinks and juices available for kids. We do recommend including any children in your booking, so we can have things ready for you.
Are dogs welcome?
Absolutely! We love our doggos at Oliver’s Taranga. We just ask that guests keep dogs on a leash and under control when at Cellar Door, and obviously pick up after them.
Do OTT Club Members get extra perks at Cellar Door?
Yes indeed, every OTT Club Member receives a free wine tasting for themselves and a guest on each visit to our Cellar Door, as well as their Wine Club pricing on any purchases. Just another great perk of being a part of the OTT Wine Club!
Are your wines vegan friendly?
Yep. We don’t add any animal products in the making of our wines. To be honest, we try not to add anything at all. Except the grapes we grow ourselves… you kinda need the grapes 🙂
