History
IHANA - Finnish for wonderful or fantastic - a word Valtteri reserves for the truly exceptional. The collaboration of Valtteri Bottas x Oliver’s Taranga is just that - a celebration of competitive craftsmanship. The stubborn pursuit of excellence is a common thread for Valtteri Bottas and sixth generation grape grower Corrina Wright. And a wine made by two such driven perfectionists was only ever going to be ‘Ihana’, the very word uttered on Valtteri’s first taste. Finding a second home in South Australia, Valtteri’s love for exploring our landscapes and wine regions has led to an inevitable conclusion; the wines of these rolling McLaren Vale vineyards are amongst the very best in the world.
Aroma
All dusty chopped chocolate, cherry berry, vanilla and roasted meats.
Palate
Edition #3 brings a touch of salmiakki (salted liquorice) to the mustikka (bilberry) and generous black fruits that IHANA has become known for
Wine & Vintage

Reviews
The second release (or Edition #2 on the label) of the co-lab with Finnish Formula 1 driver and wine lover Valtteri Bottas; from two blocks again, with vines about 35 and 10 years old; French oak, 20% new. There’s a lot of nuance to the estate’s shiraz offerings, with each finely differentiated. Here, a dark-fruited profile with a silky sumptuousness about it. Freshly ground coffee, blackberry Danish, black cherries in syrup, but all not overstated. It’s hard not to link this to Bottas’ profession, and the attendant glamour and luxury products, but this is no show pony. There is a new car gloss to it, but the careful restraint and balance is the star. Very good. 95 Points [2023 vintage]

An alluring nose of cherry juice, pomegranate and dark prunes. There is also some blue fruit, dusty Mirabelle plums and wafts of dark chocolate. Acidity tingles at the sides of the palate and works towards the centre, allowing for its intensity of fruit to fully seep. A touch of bay leaf and buried clove spice just lifts at the finish. This is artfully put together with the fruit speaking the loudest; beautiful drinking now but has the ability to evolve in the cellar for another 5–8 years. Drink now–2032. 95 points [2023 vintage]
