2026 Grenache Blanc
$36.00 / bottle
Grenache, but not as you know it. Our inaugural 2026 Grenache Blanc release flips the script on McLaren Vale’s favourite red —a fresh, textural white wine made for a seafood spread, salty snacks or anything kissed with lemon. Think long lunches in the sun, fresh sea air and plates passed around the table.
Creamy and textural, layering French pear pastry, citrus curd and a hint of margarita-like salinity over bright natural acidity. It’s fresh, vibrant and screaming out for fish tacos.

History
With 100 ha of premium grapevines on the Taranga property, the Oliver family has over 50 blocks representing different grape varieties, clones, soil types & vine ages. Each vintage, different varieties & blocks will show their strength and from this has been born the ‘SMALL BATCH’ range. Made in small batches of less than two tonnes, these wines have been handcrafted to speak of both the variety and the vintage in which they have been produced.
Aroma
Lifted aromas of spiced pear, lime zest and green pineapple leap from the glass, alongside a dusting of sherbet and distinctive river stone minerality.
Palate
Creamy and textural, layering French pear pastry, citrus curd and a hint of margarita-like salinity over bright natural acidity. Super fresh and screaming out for fish tacos.
Wine & Vintage
Grenache Blanc originated in northern Spain and was first discovered as a natural colour variation of the red Grenache grape. It is also found in France’s Rhône Valley, where it plays a role in both red and white wine blends. We know that we love our red Grenache in McLaren Vale, so planting Grenache Blanc felt like a natural extension for us. This tiny-batch 2026 inaugural release is made without oak and is a lovely dry, fresh and crisp style. The Grenache Blanc font on the front label is our Gran Marjorie’s actual writing - such beautiful cursive and we are thrilled for the label to have a little piece of her on it.
The Year That Continued
We planted Grenache Blanc in 2023 after being on the waitlist for this variety for some years. Grenache is synonymous with the McLaren Vale region and the Taranga vineyard, and it thrives in our microclimate - especially the old vines. Grenache Blanc has only recently become available in Australia thanks to the importation of the French Établissement National Technique pour l’Amélioration de la Viticulture (say that 3 times quickly! ENTAV for short) clones. It comes via an original selection from the Rhône Valley, and there is much excitement over the variety in the region. This year was the first crop from our Grenache Blanc vines and we only made a small parcel to share with our cellar door customers. It is early days, but it crops well, has a lovely low pH (for all the wine nerds!), and a real brightness. Did you know - there is a third Grenache varietal sibling: Grenache Gris, usually made as a white, but the grapes have a pink tinge.
