Continuing our journey through Gran Marjorie’s handwritten recipes, the Hide the Tin Cookies are one of those recipes you can whip up in a flash from your pantry staples. Handy in case someone is going to drop by for a cuppa – or a cheeky mid-afternoon glass of ‘The Banished’.

Recipe
Gran’s Hide the Tin Cookies
1 cup of Cornflakes
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of coconut
1 cup of self-raising flour
1 cup of oats
1/2 cup of raisins
1/2 cup of currants
1/2 cup of nuts (we use almonds)
1/2 cup of butter
2 tablespoons of golden syrup or honey
1 egg
- Mix all the dry ingredients together
- Melt butter and golden syrup
- Stir in with the dry ingredients
- Beat the egg and add last, mixing in well
- Put spoonfuls of the cookie mixture on a baking pan, evenly spaced
- Cook for 10-15 minutes
- Remove from the oven and allow to cool
