Small Batch Wines  |  2009 Fiano

Gill Gordon-Smith, Fall from Grace, 2010

2009 Oliver's Taranga Fiano

Plenty of fruit lift on the nose. Some tropical notes, with a refreshing grassy edge.

Medium bodied on the palate, excellent pine nut viscosity. Rich & refreshing.

Fiano is a relatively new variety to Australia, and originates from the Campagna region of Italy. It is a very interesting variety, as it is able to maintain the acidity in the grapes, even in our hot weather.

This Fiano is made with indigenous yeasts, and retains all of its natural acidity. The 2009 Fiano was made without the use of oak. With 100 ha of premium grapevines on the Taranga property, the Oliver family has over 46 blocks representing different grape varieties, clones, soil types & vine ages. Each vintage, different varieties & blocks will show their strength and from this has been born the ‘SMALL BATCH’ range.  Made in small batches of less than 2 tonnes, these wines have been handcrafted to speak of both the variety and the vintage in which they have been produced.
