Small Batch Wines  |  2011 Fiano

SA Life December/Jan 2012- David Sly

This wine represents glorious summer drinking. A grape varietal sourced from southern Italy, it has the winning mix of fresh citrus with fleshy stonefruit and pear flavours, a hint of savoury spiciness and gutsy mouthfeel, all contained in a generous, medium-weight palate. It's especially suited to seafood, grilled fish or a poached chicken salad. Corrina Wright at Oliver's Taranga in McLaren Vale makes this wine textural and rich, though by avoiding oak its zesty freshness is allowed to shine. It's part of the winery's small natch range, so there aren't vast amounts available. Hop online of head to the winery cellar door to make sure you get some.
