Small Batch Wines  |  2008 Fiano

Vintage Notes:

2008 was the first substantial crop of Fiano at Oliver’s Taranga. Fiano is a relatively new variety toAustralia, and originates from the Campagna region ofItaly. It is a very interesting variety, as it is able to maintain the acidity in the grapes, even in our hot weather. This Fiano is made with indigenous yeasts, and retains all of its natural acidity. The 2008 Fiano was made without the use of oak.

Smells nice & ripe, with fresh cut melon and stone fruit aromas. The palate is quite brazen….A decent first effort that has an interestingly rustic, savoury finish

From a variety originating in southern Italy, this is one of Corrina Rayment’s small batch set of wines. Its bone dry in its make up, quite distinctive citrus rind rather than zest, and a nutty, almost sherry like character without oak but great natural acidity and lift suited to rich Chinatown dishes
