Gran’s Date Pudding has everything you want from a wholesome, comforting dessert…
There’s no doubt Gran Marjorie was a master of the classics, and this simple pudding recipe was one all the kids looked forward to, especially if there was some of her homemade custard on offer.
Corrina especially remembers coming in from pruning in the vineyard in winter, with her Grandpa and Uncle Don, to her Gran’s homecooked 3 course lunch, including this rich, delicious pudding to finish. It was exactly what everyone needed to warm up inside and out, not to mention the energy to get back outside in the cold.
It was this dish that also fostered a lifelong love of sticky date puddings!
