Continuing our journey through Gran Marjorie’s memorable recipes, we bring Gran’s Grape Crumble a soul-warming recipe for cold days.

As vintage draws to a close, and nights become cooler, this delicious recipe makes the most of ripe red grapes, and that magic combination of rolled oats, brown sugar and butter to make an extra tasty crumble topping!

Corrina’s advice is to: “Double the crumble, and make sure the cream or ice-cream you have with it is top-notch!” Nothing better than trying to eat a tasty hot dessert before the ice-cream completely melts.

So do yourself a favour and invite the family round for a dessert everyone will demolish… seconds anyone?

Gran’s Grape Crumble Recipe

Recipe (Serves 4-6pp)

Ingredients: Grapes

  • 3 cups of red wine grapes
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 1/3 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/2 cup of plain flour
  • Pouring cream to serve


  1. Wash and place 3 cups of red grapes into an oven proof dish
  2. Add the juice of 2 lemons
  3. Mix in 1/3 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1/3 teaspoon of salt
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees
  5. Mix together 1 cup of rolled oats, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of butter and 1/2 cup of plain flour
  6. Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the grapes
  7. Bake for a further 15 minutes
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving with pouring cream
