GrenachePizza WEB 8 | 2023

Crack a bottle, crank the wood oven pizzas and rejoice- 180 years on, and Grenache has finally reached the height of McLaren Vale cool. With all the fragrances of a mushroom foraging tromp through the pine trees, this medium-bodied Grenache is full of spice, earth and forest berry aromas.

AROMA
Fragrant, fleshy and floral. Red berries and forest floor, botanicals jump out of the glass. Cranberry and a savoury ironstone note.
PALATE
Racy, medium bodied, lovely chewy tannins framing the wine. So fresh and vibrant. Red berries and exotic spices, savoury forestry notes follow through the palate. A classic modern Grenache from an outstanding vintage.
WINE & VINTAGE

2022 was another cracking vintage in McLaren Vale. A long, cool ripening period and no heatwaves meant that we had plenty of opportunity to ripen the Grenache perfectly. We snuck a few whole bunches in our Grenache this year, so you may notice a bit more of a floral lift and lovely long tannins to round out the palate. Glory to gorgeous Grenache!

WHAT THE WRITERS HAVE TO SAY

James Halliday - Halliday Top 100

There's so much excitement about McLaren Vale Grenache you can expect to enjoy every offering - and you won't be disappointed here. Winemaker Corrina Wright fills the senses with red fruits, yet does so with a light touch, leaving the mouth fresh.

Mike Bennie for Gourmet Wine Traveller

Lean and racy, intense and driving with suppleness and silky draw. Skeletal in a way, but the wine packs in lots of red berry fruit and exotic spice. Feels pretty serious, also fresh, also delicious. The wine glides through the mouth, with fresh, juicy raspberry flavours, ending with fine tannins.

This is good, by far the best of this Small Batch range. A light, translucent ruby. Scents of cranberry, ume, persimmon, red cherry and orange zest reverberate across a finely detailed mid palate. Perfectly ripe. Drinks mid weight. Succulent. Unravels long across sandy, diaphanous tannins. Excellent drinking at the price.

Aromas of strawberries, black tea and moss. Full-bodied with lovely juiciness and freshness. Silky tannins keep things in order through to a steady finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
